A Big Thanks to all the bands and fans coming out for the

U ROCK ON Benefit Shows

Session:
Kicking off the January 2nd show was Session. They always know how to get everyone in the mood with their diverse play list which ranges from kick back reggae to some harder metal sounds. They seem to ease the crowd into the show and then get them on their feet swaying or stomping in circles! I guess we could call their style a type of "Mood Music". That's what they do, they set the mood, and that's talent!

Drinking with Clowns:
Who wasn't dripping wet with sweat after these guys got done playing? These guys played a long set ensuring everyone their money's worth and the crowd still wanted more! In fact they didn't want it to end at all! The crowd just kept on cheering them on and was wooed by the many talents of the members. Drinking with Clowns has so many different forms of percussion, guitar and bass styles that their shows are always upbeat, fun and interesting! These guys can easily captivate a crowd and get them involved!

Gusano:
Can you say METAL in Spanish? Well I certainly can't, but... who cares? These guys can melt faces with their powerful front man and chest rattling instrument combo. I'm convinced that they eat mariachi bands for breakfast! The whole bar was jumping, moshing and screaming along with Gusano. Everyone was pumped and rocking like it was the last time they'd ever get a chance to rock out. While many people were unfamiliar with the Spanish lyrics, everyone was so in tune with the powerful vocals that you could feel what was being said. Gusano made sure that even though it was late, the party would still go on!

JAN 24TH BENEFIT

Harmonic Prophecy:
In order to remind people of their many talents Todd and Joel came on stage and gave an acoustic performance that was sure to seal their fate as an AMAZING duo! (Although we love you as a band too) With their calming melodies and impressive line-up, they reminded the crowd what it
meant to play music in a "back to the basics" form. With an acoustic show like this one you're guaranteed to feel more connected to the members. Joel and Todd definitely created that raw intensity that everyone loves about acoustics.

The Velvet Murder:
The Velvet Murder had their work cut out for them in order to get the crowd motivated to move, and they certainly accomplished that! With the powerful vocals of their front man Billy and the loud metal sound that vibrated from the well put together band, it seemed to come easy. They took the atmosphere of the bar and created a hard rock vibe with horns in the air as far as the eye could see. Considering that this was The Velvet Murder's first live performance, I cant wait to see what this band has in store!

Session:
Because Session can set the mood of any show and can control the tempo of any crowd it makes sense that they instantly turned the adrenaline filled room into a relaxed one. Session is like a tall umbrella drink on a unfairly beautiful beach. They're calming and refreshing and their music can almost be described as intensely captivating, or enticing to the mind.

Arlamae:
Can you keep up with Arlamae? The answer is "NO', I guarantee that you will try anyway because Arlamae certainly has their own way of commanding you to! This band is so much rock that they even use two singers to fully complete their sound. That sound is adrenaline pumping, blood boiling, and ass kicking metal! Their stage performance definitely provided what their fans were looking for! In fact, the crowd was thriving to keep up with the energy streaming from every member in Arlamae. If you aren't in the mood to ROCK, when Arlamae hits the stage you will soon change your mind!

AUG 14th AT TONIC

Days No Different at Tonic in Reno. The band did an acoustic set, a real one, not just the "unplugged" version. Once they got the venues sound system working the crowd was into it.
We were surprised at how many people knew the words to the songs on their first CD. Brian the hard hitting drummer, Jeff and Danny(sure know how to work that guitar), and John the sexy singer are great and are going to be a legend someday.
We did miss Matt the bass player though. Not the same without him. His energy and help with the soundboard would have helped right off. The place was packed, on a hot August night. The front doors were opened and the ladies were hot and not just from the heat. They love the guys that are as cute as they are nice. The band changes the set from venue to venue and was much different from the one we saw in Napa.
We think that the local crowd was into them much more. Days feeds off of the crowds energy and they just get better and better.

Gebular came all the way from Washington and ROCKED two amazing shows in Reno NV! Wednesday night at Anchors Bar and Grill was their first show where everyone stood up and took notice to the unique rock sound that came from the very talented trio! Due to the "atmosphere" of Anchors the band was forced to be more conservative and play quieter than they were used to, but they still had people  banging their heads and stomping their feet! Toward the end of the show they had everyone demanding that they turn it up! Thursday night was spent at Davidson’s Distillery where the face melting sound of Gebular was sure to be heard for a few blocks! They definitely turned up the volume for this show and with the enticing vocals of front man Brandon being heard loud and clear, Clint creating that deep powerful sound from the bass, and Justin making it all come together while beating the crap out of his drums,  you could see the crowd giving their full attention while connecting with the powerful lyrics. With a lot of their inspiration coming from the equally unique sound of Nirvana, Gebular makes you understand what exactly it means to be comfortable when you're alone. When you hear them play you're doing more than listening to the music you are getting to know Gebular which is what makes this band so amazing! Kurt Cobain would be proud! After these two amazing shows Gebular has everyone in Reno asking "when are you coming back?"

The Crue Fest concert at the Wheatland (Sleep Train) Amphitheatre was a rockin good time as usual.  The show opened with Trapt which turned into their own CD release party (out the same day), and their fans helped establish the enthusiastic mood for the evening.  Next Sixx:am came out for a short set.  Everyone was obviously excited to see Nikki, but his and Crue fans in general were only then trickling in, so the subdued response was typical of an early crowd (plus they didn't know the words to the new songs).

Next came Papa Roach and their energy got the crowd up on their feet and rockin.  They were followed by Buckcherry who really rocked the tats hard but didn't seem to hit their stride until near the end of their set (they even seemed disappointed they didn't have more time).

Finally it was time for the Crue's show of sin & sex.  The requisite fire, explosions and Tommy's titty cam, awesome lighting and excellent video coverage were all there, though understandably abbreviated for a Tuesday night show in an 18,000 seat venue.  I loved it when Tommy went into the audience. The Mick solo was an an awesome tribute to Mr. Jimmi.  Really cool show. What I enjoyed the most was seeing 40-50 something parents rockin' out with their children, and the kids knowing the words to the newer songs better than their folks.  Only negative: even for a week night in a relatively small place their show was very short (1hr.-15min.), but maybe that's just a Crue fan writing this.

Greyscale was the second show of the day at the second annual "A'bout Reno," and it was nothing short of energizing! With music that is sure to get people all fired up; it's no wonder they played right before the Battle Born Derby Demon's first bout! Greyscale definitely got the girls and the crowd in the mood for some derby action!! Greyscale's heavier sound along with powerful guitar solos and lyrics had everyone including the opposing team throwing up fists, devil horns, and gave the entire crowd a reason to bang their head!!

When Days No Different took the stage as the opening show for the second annual "A'bout Reno," their mere presence demanded attention. Even though the hot sun was beating down on them and the crowd, they managed to lure people out of the comfort of the shade and get involved! Most people in the crowd were starting to sing along with the catchy choruses by the end of every song, while dancing and even playing a little air guitar! Days captured the crowd with their amazing performance, and when the crowd was asked to "jump" they responded "how high!!"

U Rock On caught two of Days No Different shows this week. Days rocked a small but vocal crowd Tuesday night at Fat City in San Francisco. It was a high energy show the guys gave it their all and blew the small crowd away. They went on to play a great acoustic set Wednesday night in Napa. It was a standing room only crowd inside Downtown Joes. I think the band had to tone it down a little. People get a little nervous about earthquakes in that part of the country and Days had the crowd shaking the joint up.
